What is mono-printing?
Mono-printing is a playful and quick form of printmaking, and each print is a one-off. They can be made in a variety of ways, from masking out shapes with paper stencils, to printing from plants.
What to expect:
- An introduction to a variety of techniques with demonstrations and examples. Techniques will include the use of paper stencils, drawing shapes and lines into the ink with rags and cotton buds, as well as a technique that creates a beautiful, drawn, velvety line.
- Having a go at these processes, with a lot of opportunity to experiment.
- As mono-printing is a very quick and playful process, you will be producing a lot of work in a short space of time.
- Plenty of tea and coffee!
What to bring:
- Packed lunch
- Apron / clothes that you don’t mind getting inky
- (Optional) Some themes or shapes to base your prints on. These can be very rough ideas, photographs, or even just a list of objects to give you a starting point, eg. seaweed, trees, birds.
