TOM SHEPHERD

Painting predominantly in watercolour and some acrylics, Tom loves painting a wide range of subjects, but it’s
his first love from a young age of birds that he is always drawn back to. “Watercolour is such an immediate,
expressive and free flowing medium it feels perfect for capturing the character and movement of birds!”

Stepping into the wonderful world of Knepp we couldn’t help but be excited and inspired. With so much
choice of subjects my natural tendency was to home in on the incredible variety and sheer number of
birds. Wandering around the Knepp landscape at dusk and dawn was a particularly fascinating time for
wildlife; the place really came alive! It’s this life and energy I was keen to capture in my paintings.
